The Holy Land
The Holy Land is holy because God revealed Himself here in a particular way. It is the place where the patriarchs came; the place where the history of the Covenant concluded at Sinai was lived out, the place where God has chosen to let His Name dwell.
A pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a major event as it gives the opportunity to discover Jesus in His country and hear His message in the land where He was born.
Jesus, son of Isra’el, a Jew and the son of a Jewish woman of Nazareth, spoke a Semitic language using images, the words of a specific cultural context. Circumcised on the eighth day like all Jews of the past and present. He was brought up and educated in the Jewish faith by His parents. Jesus learned from His mother how to pray with words and rhythm of prayer of His people, in the synagogue at Nazareth and the Temple in Jerusalem.
Jesus taught in parables all the time.
“Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables, and He did speak to them without a parable, so that it may be fulfilled which spoken by the prophet, saying ‘I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world’ “. Matthew 13:34 & 35This land is the place where Jesus lived and through which He traveled. Coming to the Holy Land will give you the understanding of the layout of the land and also the culture of the people you will meet here. See Him with new eyes, in His people, in His land. Jesus lived in a tradition that is still alive in the Holy Land today.
Thus, a pilgrimage gives the opportunity to encounter the person of Jesus.
